Sometimes you’re just craving a truly kick-ass, leave-you-panting workout session—but you might not happen to be near a gym or boutique studio filled with kettlebells and stair climbers. (Maybe you’re on a tropical vacay—you never know when that yearning for sweat-induced endorphins might strike.)
Thankfully, you don’t need any machines to get in a grueling sweat sesh. Working with your body weight alone can do wonders—and make you seriously question your dumbbell habit.
“It’s scary in the best way. It’s a really great move that hits your entire body.”
Just ask Anna Victoria, fitness phenom and creator of the Fit Body Guides, who’s always sharing simple, quickie workouts you can do anywhere via her Instagram. Like the one the social media star came up with for the video below. It’s a truly game-changing, three-part fitness maneuver designed to spike your heart rate and work your whole body—in little time and with zero equipment.
“It’s scary—in the best way,” jokes Victoria about the move. “It’s high-intensity, and you can do it anywhere. It’s a really great move that hits your entire body.”
So what exactly does this hard-core maneuver consist of? Basically, it’s a burpee-push-up-squat-jump hybrid. Yes, it’s intense—but it’s also the perfect rock-star move to show off to your friends while you’re hanging out at the beach. Ready to sweat? Keep reading for how to do Victoria’s move—video included!
Anna Victoria’s do-anywhere full-body workout
1. Drop into a burpee and do a push-up while on the floor.
2. Jump up and land in a squat.
3. Pulse in the squat before doing a jump squat.
4. Repeat.
“Do 10 of these right after one another, and then repeat 10 times,” says Victoria. (In other words, you’re getting 100 reps of this move in.) Running out of steam? Don’t quit, the trainer urges. “Remember that those difficult moments are the ones that help you grow physically and mentally,” she says. “The feeling of accomplishment afterward is so empowering that you won’t forget it—it makes you stronger for future challenges.”
And hey, they say that doing something terrifying makes you more powerful—I’d say a burpee mixed with jump squats and push-ups definitely qualifies.
If you do have access to equipment, here’s how to hack your gym workout so that it’s as tough as a boutique fitness class. Then give your body a treat with some post-workout foam-rolling.
