Remember the scene from 13 Going on 30 when Jennifer Garner’s quirky character Jenna Rink transforms a work party from a dud to a rager with just a little help from Michael Jackson’s “Thriller”? Well, it turns out that the actress’s IRL love of dance far predates the 2004 rom-com. In fact, she actually grew up dancing traditional ballet right until she packed her bags for college, she tells me.
Nowadays, Garner satisfies her love of pirouettes with frequent doses of dance cardio and a carefully curated social media feed overflowing with elegant ballerinas.
“[W]hen I was first on Instagram, I didn’t really understand what you’re supposed to be looking at,” the Once Upon a Farm founder admits. “Then somebody said, ‘Oh, you can see your favorite ballerinas if you wanted to.’ And just like that, the wellness-lovin’ mama of three found a virtual haven of #dancespo.
“The more I watched, the more I was reminded about how happy and uplifting it is to see someone dance—even if it’s just in little clips.” —Jennifer Garner
Scroll through her recent posts, and you’ll see regram after regram of individual dancers (like Natalia Osipova) and duos like Antonio and Maria Rosaria busting some seriously impressive moves. “The more I watched, the more I was reminded about how happy and uplifting it is to see someone dance—even if it’s just in little clips,” the star says.
Just leave it to Jennifer Garner to remind us all that your Instagram feed is really whatever you want it to be. So, if you’re no longer all that jazzed by your current Insta views, think “WWJGD?” The answer: Discover who inspires you and tap follow, follow, follow.
