Last month, when the boutique-fitness booking platform Mindbody went down for a few hours, many workout warriors realized for the first time time just how reliant they are on the service for reserving studio sweat seshes at beloved fitness dens like Y7, Physique57, and Exhale. While the service has since been conducting business as usual, it’s now working to implement a new feature that Instagram is rolling out to make reaching your fitness goals even easier.
Any studio that uses Mindbody as a booking platform will have the option of including a reserve button on its Instagram profile.
Instagram’s new action-button feature will soon allow you to book your classes directly on the social app (a brand rep did not offer a specific date). Any studio that uses Mindbody as a booking platform will have the option of including a “reserve” button (as well as buttons to buy tickets or to start an order) on its Instagram profile, the rep told me via email. So the next time you’re scrolling through your feed and see a post from your favorite yoga studio, you can reserve a class on the spot, without leaving the social media app.
“At Mindbody, our purpose is to help people lead healthier, happier lives by connecting the world to wellness. Instagram has opened up an avenue for connection that has tremendous potential,” says Rick Stollmeyer, Mindbody CEO and co-founder.
This feature is just one more way that technology is making access to wellness services more seamless. But in the likely event that you could use a break from all the convenient connectivity, don’t worry: Google is on the case.
