Thanks to the Kardashians, contouring is now its own category of makeup application. But with stranger ways to get that contoured look popping up every day—check out #contouring for techniques involving forks, scissors, and knives (seriously)—the idea is moving farther and farther away from a natural and easy look.
Enter Farah Dhukai, a beauty DIY blogger and YouTuber who is all about all-natural solutions to every beauty problem. Her latest—and most unusual—DIY recipe? A no-makeup contouring and highlighting mask that she says will leave your skin shaded and glowing in all the right places. (Here’s to the rest of a makeup-free summer!)
Using a mix of rose petals, honey, and yogurt for a highlighting mask and a mix of espresso, cacao powder, and honey for a bronzing mask, you apply each mask to the areas of the face that you would normally apply the makeup to, leaving your skin with a natural contoured look—sans makeup.
Coffee has been known to be a powerhouse ingredient in DIY skin care recipes—the antioxidants alone are enough to skip that afternoon coffee for a quick scrub—but mixed with cacao and honey, it actually triggers a gentle darkening process to give your cheekbones and jawline a defined appearance.
